Rose Marie Adkins, 73, passed away at home among her family on Monday, May 24th, 2021, in Wellington, Ohio.
Rose is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Adkins-Pierce, her son in law, Brian Cooney, her son, Brian Adkins, her grandson, Austin Pierce, and her fiancé, John Tucky. She remained close to the family of her late husband, Walter, as well as her lifelong friends, many of whom have passed in recent years. She never had a large family, but as she contested, she didn’t need one; the family she had meant the world to her and remained by her side until the end.
Rose was born on August 7th, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Clara Froelich and William Hart. She was a 1965 graduate of South High, and grew up to become a beautiful and intelligent woman who always put the interests of others before her own. Perhaps this is the reason she decided to become a nurse: she loved caring for others. Rose spent her career in long-term care and worked up until her diagnosis in 2016. She married the love of her life, Walter W. Adkins, on January 14th, 1967, and remained happily married until his death in May of 2013. She was lucky enough to find love again after his passing with an old friend, John Tucky; they later became engaged on June 24th, 2016. Rose will be missed dearly, and should be remembered for her selfless demeanor, always putting those she cared for before herself, and her unrelenting love and devotion to her family.
Rose never wished to have a funeral after her passing. She just wanted to be cremated without a service of any kind. She believed a funeral would be harder on those closest to her, another example of her selflessness and her love for her family. A celebration of life will be held on a future date in her honor.
